What you will learn

Supported internships are a good way of preparing you to get a job. What makes them different is that you do most of your learning at work and some in college. This means you can ‘learn on the job’. A supported internship could be the right choice for you if you know you learn best by ‘doing’.

Entry requirements

You will have a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and be 16 to 24 years of age. This course is designed to help you move forwards and develop your confidence both at work and at college.

Work experience

You will do in excess of 360 hours work experience; this is typically done by completing two days a week over the course of the academic year.? You could be offered support via a Job Coach if needed.

Placements will cover a range of national and local employers and businesses and will link to your work related interests.

Assessment

You should expect to carry out a two days per week work placement with an employer, possibly supported by a Job Coach, working towards personal targets and you will be expected to complete a work experience diary, which includes a feedback section from your employer.

You will also further-develop the skills you need to be successful in employment including English, maths and ICT whilst in college.

Progression

The course will prepare you for Pathway 2 Employment (P2E) Stage 2 - Supported Internship - EHCP Learners Only or progress into employment.
