Would you like to be a member of cabin crew, overseas resort rep or ski chalet host, to name a few? Then if so, this is the course for you! Come and join us on our Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Our qualification consists of a range of units. That enable you to learn, develop and practice skills required for employment in aviation, rail, holiday parks, tour operator companies, travel agencies, tourist information centres, tourist attractions, cruise line companies or conference events organisations.?

The tourism industry consists of many processes, systems and activities which enable tourists to enjoy their experience whilst away from home. This course focuses specifically on developing your knowledge and skills to be able to work in this ever-growing sector by exploring and going behind the scenes to identify the elements that make up the tourism industry. Economically tourism is one of the most important industrial activities in the world. More than 1 billion people take international tourist trips every year, and this number is increasing year on year. Tourism accounts for over 10% of global GDP and one in every 11 jobs. We have high success rates, and you can see on our social media feeds that many of our learners are now working as cabin crew, travel advisers, overseas resort reps, on cruise ships and in the rail industry.

When people say “the world is your oyster” the tourism industry and tourism jobs are one of the only sectors that enables you to travel and explore the world whiles you are working. The course focuses on developing your academic abilities, customer service skills, interpersonal skills, self-confidence, self-esteem, time management and leadership skills, making you more employable and ready to excel in the tourism industry.

  What You Will Learn

This one-year program is a comprehensive exploration of the travel and tourism industry, with the focus on specific tourism organisations and employment opportunities. These include holiday parks, cruise ships, tourism marketing, travel advisers and sustainable tourism organisations. Additionally, you will develop your interpersonal skills, develop excellent customer service, team building, time management and leadership skills required to meet the needs of the tourism industry making you more employable and ready for the workplace.

  Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 4, ideally including English and mathematics

  Work Experience

As part of your course you will be required to carry out Work Experience and/or an Industry Placement

  Assessment

Continuous ongoing assessment takes place throughout the academic year to develop a portfolio of evidence. These include role-plays with your peers and members of the public, presentations, online multiple-choice exams, customer service based practical assessments, team building activities, fire safety training, airport visits with practical assessments and written reports.

  Progression

When you have completed the Level 3 course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the tourism industry, and this will give you a couple of options. You could progress onto an extended Level 3 Diploma, which focuses on specific job roles, e.g. cabin crew, ski chalet hosts and travel advisers. The Level 3 extended courses include a stand-alone NCFE Qualification in Cabin Crew. An industry-recognised qualification that supports you with employment into the airline industry. Alternatively, we offer apprenticeship and higher education in events and event management.?
