The level 3 Site Carpentry qualification are for learners who are interested in developing the specific technical and professional skills that can lead to meaningful employment in the construction industry as a site carpenter. This qualification will also open doors to employment across the world in place such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada. You will also be able to access university courses on completion of this course as past leaners have gone on to become site managers, project managers and Architects.

  What You Will Learn

An advanced site carpenter will normally work on a building site, or in domestic or commercial premises ,preparing and installing complex and often bespoke building components e.g double doors, shaped linings, staircases with turns ,complex wall and floor units, erecting bespoke structural roof structures(e.g hip roofs valleys and dormer roofs. This course is designed for the carpenter who has completed a level 2 and wants to progress their skills to a higher level.

The course also involves aspects of management of sustainability and also management of work, allowing the trainee to develop into a person who can undertake work without assistance from a mentor.

  Entry Requirements

Level 2 site carpentry diploma or L2 site carpentry Apprenticeship

  Work Experience

You will need to have an employer who can provide you with the range of activities that are addressed in the course to enable you to practice the skills you are being taught in college and are detailed for a Level 3 carpenter.

  Assessment

You will be assessed when you are ready by means of end point assessment, this will be by an assessor from the awarding body (city & guilds) this will involve collecting a portfolio of work that you have undertaken over the period of the apprenticeship, this will be used as a basis for a discussion with the assessor.

  Progression

Successful candidates can progress onto a range of opportunities within the construction industry and further levels of attainment such as BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. Learners can also choose to become self-employed, start their own contracting companies or carry on to Higher education and university

This course is best suited anyone that had successfully completed the 'Introduction to Woodworking Skills' course. The course goes in to more detail and will enable you to develop your woodworking skills further. It will help you to carry out small jobs at home or it will be a great stepping stone to a career change. Please Note: Due to the recent Government announcement of a national lockdown unfortunately we will be looking to postpone all Saturday Skill courses until the 27th February 2021. NVQ Level 4 Construction Site Supervision (Residential Development) OSAT

Are you working in the construction industry but do not have a NVQ qualification in your specialist trade? If so On Site Assessment & Training (OSAT) is your route to gaining recognition for the skills that you possess. OSAT allows you to continue working full time on site with no college attendance needed. A specialist assessor will work with you in the workplace to guide you through your qualification ensuring you know exactly what to do to successfully complete your NVQ qualification. Completing the level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision OSAT will make you eligible to apply for a CSCS Black Senior Manager Card. This qualification is aimed at experienced workers in a technical, managerial or supervisory role (e.g. foreman) who are seeking to develop their competence and improve their skills and knowledge. ‘Completing an OSAT was ideal for me. Introduction to Bricklaying Skills (Saturday Skills)

This introduction course is best suited anyone that is new to bricklaying. This course gives you the basics of bricklaying and the best start to produce basic brick and block walls to a good standard. On completion of the 'Introduction to Bricklaying' you will be able to construct simple stretcher bond walls and quoins.
