Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course. This can help if you need to combine study with part time employment and family commitments.

Medical Physics
Physics for Health Professionals
You will also study a range of Study Skills units.

  Entry Requirements

You will need Level 2 qualifications in Mathematics and English Language, and preferably Science.

  Assessment

Expect to be assessed via a range of methods including essays, reports, presentations and lab experimentation.

  Progression

Students can progress onto an Honours Degree, Higher National Diploma or a Foundation Degree in a range of science based disciplines that can be loosely grouped under the physical sciences - Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

" I feel proud to have achieved the grades I did and feel confident that this has helped prepare me in the transition to Uni. I made some fab friends too!

You need to be able to devote your time and effort to this course as it is full on and a lot can be required, however, I managed to complete this whilst juggling a part time job, boyfriend and friends. It is all achievable! The tutors are super supportive and I could not have done it without them. We were all like a little access family."

Geography/Environmental Science CAVA Access to Higher Education Diploma

The Geography Access to Higher Education Diploma is a suitable entrance qualification for the many Earth Science based degrees in Cornwall and throughout the country. It is also a recognised qualification that can help you gain entry into the workplace. On the access course you will have the opportunity to get support with your academic studies; you will be able to receive support from a range of people and facilities. This includes support from the Learning Resource Centre as well as support for tutors to help facilitate your learning. Support will also be available during some of the College holidays. We also support you through the university application process with tutorials. These are designed to offer guidance and support throughout the learning process. Some applicants may be eligible for financial support on this course to assist with childcare, transport etc. The Learner Support Fund is under review and is determined by individual circumstances. If you are under 24 years of age, you may be eligible for fee remission. Information will be given within the workshops, however if your require more information contact the College your applying for and speak to one of the administration tutors for further details. Access to Physiotherapy, Radiography and other Health Professions

Level 3 • Full-time • Cornwall College Camborne, Cornwall College St Austell


An academic Level 3 course that will cover units of Human Biology and health related social sciences in preparation for progression to university degree courses in health professions, or provide entry requirements for applications to higher apprenticeships. The course will combine these units with acadmic study skills to prepare students for university level study. It is run over three short days to allow students to be able to work part-time alongside their course. Please Note: This course is only available to applicants who are 19+
