Course information
These courses are run at CROP Gardens, Plymouth, a horticultural site managed by Livewell. Sessions are on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00-3.00.
These are accredited courses focusing upon the fundamental practical skills in horticulture, you will be able to learn skills such as planting out, preparing ground, pruning, using a mower, maintaining turf or constructing a path.
There are various plots and poly-tunnels and you will have the opportunity to plant, propagate and grow a variety of plants and produce. Your Road to Wellbeing courses are relaxed and informal, enabling you to improve your wellbeing and mental health whilst building your self-confidence and a great way to make friends.
These are one-year courses starting in September each year.
An award, certificate or diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills is for young people (16+) and adults getting started in the horticulture industry. You don't need any previous experience or a current work placement.

Assessment is carried out by observation and records of activity.
Progression is from Level 1 to Level 2. This can then lead to a further qualification in Horticulture or self-employment or employment.
