This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner, who wishes to work as a plumber in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover aspects such as working safely and effectively, learning about how the environmental technology systems work and planning & design for the pipework and various components for cold and hot water systems and not forgetting central heating planning and design, so you will be able to plan and design a central heating system for a home, fantastic, well on your wat to being a Plumbing & Heating engineer.
This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the Plumbing industry, and will prepare you to enter a plumbing apprenticeship programme. On completion of the apprenticeship, the learner will be recognised by the industry as a competent plumbing and domestic heating engineer.
This qualification is aimed at learners who are not yet employed in the plumbing industry but wish to learn the skills needed to progress further, and help them embark on a plumbing apprenticeship programme.

Assessment
By gaining advanced technical knowledge to the Plumbing systems you will be prepared to undertake the End point Assessment (EPA) graded Pass. Merit or distinction, multi choice exam assessment covering all units and a practical Synoptic assessment to install and commission a significant part of a domestic plumbing system, including hot water, cold water, central heating etc. This will require the candidate to work safely, follow correct process sequences, select and use tools, equipment and appliances, as well as record work done and hand over to a client.
