This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner, who wishes to work as a plumber in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.

The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover aspects such as working safely and effectively, learning about how the environmental technology systems work and planning & design for the pipework and various components for cold and hot water systems and not forgetting central heating planning and design, so you will be able to plan and design a central heating system for a home, fantastic, well on your wat to being a Plumbing & Heating engineer.

This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the Plumbing industry, and will prepare you to enter a plumbing apprenticeship programme. On completion of the apprenticeship, the learner will be recognised by the industry as a competent plumbing and domestic heating engineer.

This qualification is aimed at learners who are not yet employed in the plumbing industry but wish to learn the skills needed to progress further, and help them embark on a plumbing apprenticeship programme.

  What You Will Learn

This one-year intense course will explain the systems, components and terminology used in the plumbing industry, you will learn how the advanced systems work and how they interact with one another. By gaining an advanced knowledge to all the plumbing systems of a house, how they work and how they interact with one another, you will be planning and designing Cold, Hot & central heating systems, achieving all this really prepares you for future employment in to the plumbing industry.

  Entry Requirements

We like you to have GCSEs in Maths and English at 4’s and 5’s and you will be interviewed to gauge your suitability for the course.

  Work Experience

Learners must undertake structured work-experience or work-placements with employers that develop skills and knowledge relevant to the qualification.

  Assessment

This one-year Level 3 course will explain the Plumbing & Heating systems, components and terminology used in the Plumbing industry, you will learn how the systems work and how they interact with one another.

By gaining advanced technical knowledge to the Plumbing systems you will be prepared to undertake the End point Assessment (EPA) graded Pass. Merit or distinction, multi choice exam assessment covering all units and a practical Synoptic assessment to install and commission a significant part of a domestic plumbing system, including hot water, cold water, central heating etc. This will require the candidate to work safely, follow correct process sequences, select and use tools, equipment and appliances, as well as record work done and hand over to a client.

  Progression

This qualification prepares you for a plumbing apprenticeship programme, with your work placement or work experience employer, you have the best starting opportunity to be taken on, holding a Level 3 qualification and enrol on to the NVQ programme to become a qualified Plumbing & Heating engineer. Once qualified, there are many specialist qualifications available, such as environmental technology systems and designing and planning complex water systems.

Bench Joinery Diploma

This course will give you opportunities for work both locally and if you want to travel the world. The course will enable you to take your Joinery skills far beyond the level 2 and give you a more advanced understanding of building construction along with the part a Bench Joiner plays in the manufacture of building components and how they fit into the construction of all sorts of buildings. The course will enable you to work confidently in a Joinery workshop. All of our training takes place in our state of the art joinery workshop to add a bit more work realism to the course that reflects the equipment available in industry. We have a large range to tools and equipment for you to practice with, you’ll also have access during the course to our wood machine shop to experience the machines we have. Your teaching will be delivered by highly experienced qualified trade’s people who have many years’ experience of working in the construction industry as bench joiners.

Designed to meet the needs of both enthusiast and professional, the Saturday Skills Workshops will give you all the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience you need to gain useful new skills. Introduction to basic tools and their uses, how to mix adhesive correctly, setting out your tiling to get the best results, suitable types of backgrounds for tiling, cutting and shaping tiles, grouting and finishing. You will gain experience in basic wall and floor tiling and learn from industry professionals to get the tips and best practice to achieve fantastic results. Great course for beginners.
