On this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of drawing and watercolour or acrylic painting. You will gain an understanding of composition and use of colour so you can develop your own style within these exiting mediums.

All will improve with friendly individual tuition.

You will be required to provide your own materials for this workshop and a suggested materials list will be provided nearer the start date.

The FdA Art & Design Practice is a radical and innovative interdisciplinary art degree programme. It reflects the direction the creative industries are taking by encouraging the blurring of boundaries between traditional art and design disciplines. The freedom of the flexible curriculum allows you to nurture your creative potential and direct your study to achieve the skills and unique personal portfolio you need to enter the workplace. You will have dedicated studio workspace and access to a wide range of purpose-built workshops and digital facilities. These include textiles, photography, print making, fine art, ceramics, graphic design, and multimedia with full technical support. A key feature of the art degree programme is its engagement with a variety of employers through live briefs and input into the course by industry specialists. Do you love Art or Design? Are you an inventive, creative person? Would you like to broaden your skills and learn how to develop your ideas, so that you could one day earn a living from your creativity? This course is perfect for students who like to study in a practical, hands-on way. You will explore a wide range of materials, processes and technical skills, as well as developing good study skills, communication skills, employability skills and self-confidence. The qualification is structured to provide time for gallery visits, collaborative projects and work experience, alongside regular sketchbook work, contextual studies, specialist workshops and portfolio building. The timetable also allows you to study for your Maths and English GCSE’s should you need to. The course begins with fun projects and a variety of skills workshops that are taught to the whole group. Over time you will be able to steer projects to be themed to your own interests or chosen art or design specialism. You will soon become a more independent learner who is able to come up with original ideas, write your own project proposals, develop sketchbook pages and create finished pieces that you are proud of. If you choose to study at our St Austell campus you will work as part of The Creative and Digital Academy, collaborating on a wide range of projects, performances and exhibitions with fellow creativity. Our vibrant and diverse spaces mean you’ll be engaging with musicians, dancers, gamers, filmmakers and actors, all working together to grow the creative landscape in Cornwall. At this workshop you will learn how to:- * Set up and use tungsten and flash lighting to give a range of effects. * The use of reflectors. * How to set up a simple studio at home. * Composition and posing your subject. * How to arrange groups. * How to process images in software off-camera to give desired effects and best results. * Then finally how to prepare the best image for printing.
