Are you working in the construction industry but do not have a NVQ qualification in your specialist trade? If so On Site Assessment & Training (OSAT) is your route to gaining recognition for the skills that you possess.


OSAT allows you to continue working full time on site with no college attendance needed. A specialist assessor will work with you in the workplace to guide you through your qualification ensuring you know exactly what to do to successfully complete your NVQ qualification.


Completing the level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations Site Carpentry will make you eligible to apply for a CSCS Gold Skilled Worker Card.

  What You Will Learn


You will recognise the existing trade skills that you have and understand how to complete your NVQ portfolio to showcase these skills and achieve your qualification.


You will typically need to provide evidence to demonstrate that you complete the following in the workplace:


• ability to conform to workplace health, safety and welfare
• confirm the occupational method of work

• confirm work activities and resources for an occupational work area

• install bespoke first fix components

• install bespoke second fix components

• develop and maintain good occupational working relations

• set up and use transportable cutting and shaping machines

This course can change your earning potential and your ability to find work anywhere in the world. The question is what do you want to do? This course will enable you to fit out very high specification interiors in cars, motorhomes, super Yachts, planes or design and fit kitchens, offices, shops or set up your own furniture making business. The course is delivered here at the Camborne campus within the dedicated furniture suite where we have a large maker’s workshop, a design room, a power tool room and a finishing room as well as access to the wood machine/ joinery workshop. Within the workshops you will have practical access to equipment and staff that will enable you to progress your design to completion. You will have time to learn techniques that you can further develop. We are the only furniture provider in Cornwall and one of only a few furniture apprenticeship courses in the UK. Plastering Apprenticeship Standard

Plasterers apply layers of plaster onto walls, floors and ceilings. Plastering serves a protective function, in that it makes buildings more robust and also an aesthetic function. Plasterers will often complete dry lining projects during their career. Although a person may specialise solely in dry lining, a plasterer must have the knowledge of dry lining in addition to their knowledge and skills to plaster. Our Level 2 Plastering Apprenticeship will help you gain the skills and experience needed for a career in the industry.

Plumbing Apprenticeship

If you like getting your hands dirty, fixing things and implementing a science that dates back to the Roman times, Plumbing might just be for you?? The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work with a range of materials including Copper, steel and plastic. You will also be learning the theory behind the ‘science’ You’ll be looking at everything: Pipe, fittings, radiators, boilers, guttering and sanitary ware. Basically, if it holds water we will be up to our necks in it (not literally I hope?!) Along with how we can move and heat it. Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like you would find in any Plumbers van. We also have a strong partnership with many manufacturers and industry bodies, so employers know a plumbing qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you have the very best skills.
