Do you love film, television, and animation, and want to find out more about how to use a camera to create and edit videos, or generally have an interest in entertaining media; the Media and Animation Diploma Level 2 course is your first step in a career within the media sector.
The diploma is coursework based, meaning there are no exams as part of the media course. It’s all about giving you the practical skills and experience behind the camera, in a project management role to lead a production.
You’ll learn about and put to good use a selection of professional equipment; Canon and Nikon DSLRs with a range of lenses, Sony and Panasonic Camcorders, GoPro, Tascam and Zoom recorders, Shot-gun, lapel, phantom powered microphones; accessories – shoulder mounts, Camera-cranes, Dolly and Track, DJI Ronin-s motorised 3 axis gimbal, 1, 2 and 3 point lighting systems for indoor studio and outdoor use.
You’ll take full advantage of the Television and sound studio with a permanent microphone, mixing desk and dedicated PC, and a Green-Screen with dedicated space.
In post you’ll use Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Animate, After effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Light room etc.
As well as using all this industry-standard equipment as part of your studies, you’ll also be part of visiting lectures who will speak about their experiences and how to get into the industry yourself. There are several free media trips each year to local events and competitions which will play a huge part in developing your understanding of routes into the creative sector.
As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about introducing you to the Media industry and developing your essential skills to progress onto the level 3 media or games design courses specifically, and from there, on to employment or university. You’ll be learning from experienced practicing media professionals, who are here to give you the very best start to your career.
What You Will Learn
You’ll learn about manual camera operation and composition, professional sound recording, creative software use, professional pre-production, structuring video content, editing techniques etc. By developing these skills at level 2, you will be well prepared to enter into more specialised study in further qualifications.
