This introduction course is best suited anyone that is new to plastering. The course gives you the basics of plastering and the best start to produce small areas of finishing plaster a good standard.

On completion of the 'Introduction to Plastering' you will be able to plaster small areas and internal and external corners.

Please Note: Due to the recent Government announcement of a national lockdown unfortunately we will be looking to postpone all Saturday Skill courses until the 27th February 2021.

Level 2 • Work-based • Cornwall College Camborne


A career in painting and decorating can offer you a wide range of experiences if you are a practical person with creative flair. You may work as an independent sole trader or for a larger construction company decorating new builds or even on industrial jobs sandblasting and spray painting on a large scale. This Level 2 apprenticeship continues your professional development in painting and decorating. Introducing more advanced and complex techniques such as creating specialist finishes and applying and creating colour. You must complete both Level 1 and 2 qualifications to ensure your skills and technical ability are of a high enough standard to start a career in painting and decorating. To work in a construction or building site on new builds you will also need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) accreditation that we can provide as part of the course. This apprenticeship takes two years to complete, working while you earn and learn, by attending college one day per week. You will need to find a business that will employ you as an apprentice throughout your training.

If you were hoping for a course where the subject is just simply taught to you from a book then this is the wrong course for you, because us painters and decorators like getting hands on and stuck In! The Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating is very much about practical learning, and you will be spending a lot of your time physically applying what you are learning into practice, and thus constantly improving on your decorating skills alongside learning new ones. You will be engaging in a variety of tasks, ranging from preparing a wide range of surfaces, how to apply different paint systems by brush and roller to complex areas , applying a different range of standard papers to walls and ceilings, erecting and dismantling tower scaffolds and how to create a Carrara marble specialist finish! Our work shop consists of a wonderfully extensive collection of painting and decorating equipment, access equipment, a variety of work bays (miniature rooms) that are waiting for your attention to turn them into a fresh fully re-decorated bay , this is where you can let your creativity shine as the colour schemes for your bays are in your hands! As a level 2 course this diploma will give you the skills and knowledge needed to enter the painting and decorating industry and will give you the best start to becoming a professional painter and decorator.
