This introduction course is best suited anyone that is new to bricklaying. This course gives you the basics of bricklaying and the best start to produce basic brick and block walls to a good standard.

On completion of the 'Introduction to Bricklaying' you will be able to construct simple stretcher bond walls and quoins.

  What You Will Learn

You will learn about essential bricklaying tools and their uses, how to prepare your materials, mix mortar correctly, work out mixing ratios and build simple brick and block bonds using the fundamentals of lay, level, gauge and plumb.

This is a one-year Level 1 introductory course to plumbing, teaching you the essential health & safety practices you will need to work in a trade profession. Often called upon in an emergency, if you can fix a leaking pipe, mend a broken toilet, or repair a central heating system, you will be hailed a hero. Occupational Work Supervision Level 3 (OSAT)

Are you working in the construction industry but do not have a NVQ qualification in your specialist trade? If so On Site Assessment & Training (OSAT) is your route to gaining recognition for the skills that you possess. OSAT allows you to continue working full time on site with no college attendance needed. A specialist assessor will work with you in the workplace to guide you through your qualification ensuring you know exactly what to do to successfully complete your NVQ qualification. Completing the level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) OSAT will make you eligible to apply for a CSCS Gold Supervisory Card. This qualification is aimed at experienced workers in a technical, managerial or supervisory role (e.g. foreman) who are seeking to develop their competence and improve their skills and knowledge. ‘Completing an OSAT was ideal for me. Site Carpentry

Level 2 • Part-time • Cornwall College St Austell


This course could change your life it’s an active well paid job your after and you want to travel the world. The course will enable you to take your carpentry skills far beyond the usual DIY level and give you an understanding of general building construction along with the part a carpenter plays in the construction of al sorts of buildings. The course will enable you to work confidently in a construction related work place. All of our training takes place in a construction related environment and with carpentry you’ll be working on your own timber frame house either in our large workshops or outside to add a bit more site realism to the course. We have a large range to tools and equipment for you to practice with, you’ll also have access during the course to our wood machine shop to experience the machines we have. Your teaching will be delivered by highly experienced qualified trades people who have many years’ experience of working in the construction industry.
