About the course

The course is part of the Progression Pathways offer at Cornwall College although it can also be studied outside of this package if preferred as a stand alone qualification.  This course is for anyone who wishes to improve their ICT skills.  Functional Skills ICT is offered from Entry Level through to Level 2.

Entry requirements

Ideally you will have an ICT qualification at Level 1 but an initial assessment will be carried out to esnsure you are placed on the most appropriate level.

What will I do on the course?

Functional skills ICT is designed to develop and assess functional ICT from entry level 1 to level 2 to ensure clear progression pathways and personal development opportunities. The qualification and assessment are intended to enhance skills application across a range of contexts. The knowledge, skills and problem-solving approaches contained within the qualification provide tools that can be utilised in work, life and further learning. This qualification will encourage learners to demonstrate their using ICT, finding and selecting information and developing, presenting and communicating information skills and are designed to develop and recognise the ability of learners to apply and transfer skills in ways that are appropriate to their situation. Functional skills are recognised as vital to learner's personal development, increasing both confidence and effectiveness.
