HNC Engineering degree – Part Time

HNC Engineering Level 4 is ideal if you have completed your Level 3/Apprenticeship/A Levels and are looking to progress to develop your knowledge and skills in the engineering sector.

The programme brings together the requirement for engineering principles and to develop specialist knowledge in an area of your choosing. HNC Engineering offer a broad engineering curriculum covering three units in year one and three in year two.

Engineering Applications in a Business Context (Plus computer-aided design)
Manufacture and material science
Instrumentation, Control and Automation
Specialist Project

Completing HNC Engineering will make you a more knowledgeable, versatile, and professionally competent in your chosen career. A variety of different teaching styles enables you to learn effectively, ensuring that you have the right knowledge and skills to excel in the workplace. The programme will also equip you with communication, team working and time management skills, making you a more effective student and employee.

Entry requirements

48 UCAS points (to include at least 80 from A2) maths/science/engineering/design technology or similar. Or completion of a Level 3 Engineering course and an interview. Applications from those who do not meet these requirements but who have demonstrable and relevant work experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Assessment

Maths – 50% coursework, 50% exam.
Engineering Science - 50% coursework, 50% exam.
Engineering Applications in a Business Context – 100% coursework.
Instrumentation, Control and Automation - 50% coursework, 50% exam.
Manufacture and Materials - 50% coursework, 50% exam.
Project – 100% coursework.

Progression

Level 5 HND Engineering at Camborne or the full degree at Plymouth University (subject to availability)
