This programme is ideal if you would like to pursue a career in sustainable construction giving you an insight into building surveying, building control, quantity surveying, civil engineering, structural engineering or construction management.

This introductory qualification gives you the opportunity to study a focussed selection of traditional and contemporary construction and civil engineering subjects, informed by the needs of industry. It will cover a targeted range of contemporary vocational skills; for example utilising the latest equipment and techniques for surveying, setting out, construction drawing and the sustainable use of building materials; thus enabling you to make an immediate contribution when employed in the construction sector.

On completion of the programme you will be more versatile, more employable, multi-skilled and professionally competent in your chosen career. A variety of different teaching styles enables you to learn in an effective manner, ensuring that you have the right knowledge and skills to excel in the workplace. The programme will also equip you with communication, team working and time management skills, making you a more effective student and employee.

Furniture Apprenticeship

This course can change your earning potential and your ability to find work anywhere in the world. The question is what do you want to do? This course will enable you to fit out very high specification interiors in cars, motorhomes, super Yachts, planes or design and fit kitchens, offices, shops or set up your own furniture making business. The course is delivered here at the Camborne campus within the dedicated furniture suite where we have a large maker’s workshop, a design room, a power tool room and a finishing room as well as access to the wood machine/ joinery workshop. Within the workshops you will have practical access to equipment and staff that will enable you to progress your design to completion. You will have time to learn techniques that you can further develop. We are the only furniture provider in Cornwall and one of only a few furniture apprenticeship courses in the UK. We expect our learners to work to very high standards and this is reflected in the fact that one of our learners won Gold at the National World skills UK competition and has recently picked up the apprentice of the year for the Cornwall College Group. Plumbing Apprenticeship

If you like getting your hands dirty, fixing things and implementing a science that dates back to the Roman times, Plumbing might just be for you?? The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work with a range of materials including Copper, steel and plastic. You will also be learning the theory behind the ‘science’ You’ll be looking at everything: Pipe, fittings, radiators, boilers, guttering and sanitary ware. Basically, if it holds water we will be up to our necks in it (not literally I hope?!) Along with how we can move and heat it. Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like you would find in any Plumbers van. We also have a strong partnership with many manufacturers and industry bodies, so employers know a plumbing qualification from The Cornwall College Group means you have the very best skills. So, if you want a trade and want a career working with resources which are essential to our lives, this is the best place to start. As a Level 3 course, this NVQ standard is all about immersing you in the Plumbing and heating industry and developing your essential skills.
