This workshop offers a basic introduction to watercolour or acrylic painting.

Beginners will develop a clear understanding of painting skills to effectively learn and develop techniques, observational skills and creativity.

All will improve with friendly individual tuition.

You will be required to provide your own materials for this workshop and a suggested materials list will be provided nearer the start date.

Picture Framing (DIY) Workshop

This workshop will show you how to frame well on a budget. All aspects of the basic framing of paintings, photos etc will be covered. Learn about mount cards, mouldings, conservation, decorative finishes, box frames and lots more. Everyone can try their hand at mitre and bevel mount cutting and information of local sources of materials and tools will be provided. Please bring a pad and pen to make notes and any art work, frames or tools you may wish to discuss or need advice on. You will make a picture frame at this workshop - aprox A4 size. So please bring a small size image (postcard, photo or original artwork) that you can bevel mount and put in the frame so this will need to be smaller than A4 size. We suggest that you also bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments you may require. FdA Photography

Our exciting and vibrant new FdA Photography programme, is built upon the years of existing good practice to be found in the Arts and Media Department at Cornwall College Camborne. Photography is a popular, challenging and competitive subject. As such our new programme has been designed to ensure our graduates are tenacious, flexible and excited by the new opportunities that are available in photography and are fully aware of the niches that can be carved within the creative industries. To ensure a dynamic student experience, as a FdA Photography student you will be located within the existing BA (Hons)/ FdA Art & Design Practice studio spaces, sharing a range of facilities including an HE Common Room. You will also enjoy your own subject specific teaching areas, including a photography studio and dark room facilities. Smaller teaching groups are a positive element of the programme, ensuring you receive the expert attention that you need to become a successful photographer. However, the programme cohorts will be large enough for you to collaborate with fellow students and undertake group projects. Opportunities will exist to support you if your interest lies in photo-journalism or contemporary fashion, or if you wish to develop specialisms in the use of either digital or conventional photographic technology. Photography specific visits and trips will take part throughout the programme as part of the curriculum. Location photography shoots in Cornwall, in both countryside and coastal regions, will also form part of the programme. You will work with a range of contemporary drawing techniques and processes to produce a range of exciting and creative work. You will explore line, tone, colour, form and composition through a variety of approaches. This is a fantastic stand alone, one day course, but why not stretch yourself further and sign up to more of our experimental courses, experimenting with clay, painting and printmaking.
