GCSE Maths

Maths GCSE Courses This is a one-year intensive course leading to a GCSE Mathematics qualification. This course is free of charge if you have not previously achieved a grade 4 - 9 (or A* to C) in Mathematics.

You will need to be willing to work independently for approximately 3 hours per week in addition to attending all of the timetabled lessons.

You will need pens, pencils, scientific calculator and basic geometry set.

What you will learn

The course will include three broad topics:

Number and Algebra – working with Numbers and the Number System; Fractions, Decimals and Percentages; Ratio and Proportion; the Language of Algebra; Expressions and Equations; Sequences, Functions and Graphs.

Geometry and Measures – Properties of Angles and Shapes; Geometrical Reasoning and Calculation; Measures and Construction; Mensuration; Vectors.

Statistics and Probability – the Handling Data Cycle; Data Collection; Data Presentation and Analysis; Data Interpretation; Probability.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you will complete an Initial and Diagnostic assessment to ensure you are working at the most appropriate level for your current needs.

Assessment

The course is assessed via three formal exams which are externally marked/graded.
