If you like working with wood. If you have an interest in design and the beauty of the finished product. If you take real pride in your work, keep reading. If you don’t, then this course is not for you. Level 1-2Furniture making is an introduction into how to produce quality furniture. You will learn from the basics upwards. The course focus is on hand skills, on how to construct both simple and complicated joints.

You will learn about the different types of wood used in the industry and its suitability for different projects, as well as sustainability. Whilst the focus is on hand skills, you will also be taught how to use a wide variety of woodworking machines in our extensive machinery shop. Part of the course will entail the construction of a bedside cabinet, which incorporates a door and drawer.

You will produce your own design to recreate in veneer on the door panel, and you will finally be shown finishing techniques to show off an outstanding piece of work. We pride ourselves in encouraging ambition in our students to push themselves into making something they never dreamt that they could. The end result should be as rewarding for us as yourself

You will achieve a qualification that will stand in any furniture workshop anywhere in the world, and you will join an elite group who have gone before you to become master craftsmen and women.
