This advanced qualification will introduce you to the complete process of furniture design and production, from researching the history of furniture design to the making of your own designs into finished practical pieces. Often you will get the chance to work on live commissions with clients that will give you an invaluable insight into the commercial world of furniture design and making.
If you have a creative soul with practical ability, a course in furniture making may be an ideal route to a rewarding career. Furniture design is a specialised field where function and fashion collide. Furniture has evolved and changed with the times, some styles have remained constant throughout the years, while others have drastically changed or become obsolete.
We offer two ways to train in furniture design and making, either full-time at college or part-time as an apprentice.
