Foundation learning students gaining practical skills and experience Looking to work? The FL Works Pathway develops and prepares you for employment

Interested in work? FL Works has a very clear focus to prepare you for employment. You may study this pathway in 2 stages. Pathway to Employment Stage 1 and Pathway to Employment Stage 2 (Supported Internship).

Pathway to Employment Stage 2 (Supported Internship): Following on from the Pathway to Employment Stage 1 course, if you have a genuine desire to get a job and you can demonstrate an excellent record of behaviour and attendance, then this course is ideal for you.


This Pathway is offered at different campuses. The work experiences and industry placements on offer are specific to the campus you choose to study at, where you will benefit from being taught be a range of highly-skilled professionals.

Our vision is to support you to be INDEPENDENT, CONFIDENT AND RESILIENT so that you are well-prepared to engage with the wider community. The Pathway 2 Employment course and experiences within it, will most certainly help you to develop in these areas, working towards your chosen aspiration and progression

What you will learn

At Bicton College we will work with you to seek supported employment opportunities within your local area. Your in-college learning will focus on workshops and teaching to support you in placement along English and mathematics.

Entry requirements

You will have a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and be 16 to 24 years of age. This course is designed to help you move forwards and develop your confidence both at work and at college.

Assessment

You should expect to carry out a two day per week work placement with an employer, possibly supported by a Job Coach. You will also further-develop the skills you need to be successful in employment including English, mathematics and ICT.

Progression

A traineeship, voluntary or supported paid employment or supported internship.

Bicton College is based in East Devon, near Exeter, and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just two miles from the Jurassic Coast. The historic Georgian mansion, commercial farm, animal husbandry school, modern veterinary nursing building, world-class engineering and heavy plant machinery workshop, walled garden and arboretum are all set in over 200 hectares of historic parkland.
