Fitness Pilates is a training option that focuses on the body as a human kinetic chain.

The aim is to identify basic postural imbalances such as feet rolling in or out, elevated hip or shoulder, rounded back and miss alignment.

Then to focus on strengthening the center by relearning the mind and body to recruit core muscles.

By doing this we can increase muscular balance, strength and posture.

  What You Will Learn

In these 45 minute sessions, you will learn;

- Contraction of the core muscles and pelvic floor

- maintaining core stability whilst being challenged by movement

- increased flexibility and strength of the spine

- taking posture and core strength knowledge and applying it in to everyday life

Must be 19 years or above

“I started my journey into the fitness world at Cornwall College over 5 years ago when I decided to train to be a gym instructor. From there, I went on to become a Personal Trainer and then completed a degree. After finishing my degree I started up my own Personal Training business called Inner Strength PT. I quickly discovered there is far more to personal training than just getting someone fit, it’s a whole package. So many different aspects were covered through my education at Cornwall College, from business management, to the psychological barriers that people have to exercise.
"The college really helped me gain the knowledge and the capabilities to be able to streamline my business to where I am now. This has helped immensely as I am able to work with each individual client, helping to build self confidence and self esteem, whilst seeing them get fitter not only physically but also mentally. We really are very fortunate to have such a great college on our doorsteps.”

This qualification is specifically for learners holding a Level 2 qualification in Gym Instruction or equivalent who are aspiring to branch out into the world of group exercise instruction and expand their skills to become qualified in Instructing Circuit Training. Diploma in Sport (Sports Coaching)

Level 3 • Full-time • Cornwall College Camborne


Whether you are interested in coaching, fitness training, leisure management or sports therapies or any one of the many exciting roles in the sector, then this is the course for you. This will be your stepping stone to a career in the sport, health and fitness industry! The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about both practical and theoretical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our on-campus sports hall, a fully equipped gym and 3G pitch. Our industry-experienced teachers combine theory and practical learning enabling you to progress towards a career in sport. You’ll be looking at everything from: fitness training and programming, the skills, techniques and tactical awareness involved in sport, along with impressive teamwork and leadership skills. In addition, you will be carrying out your very own personal fitness plan as you progress through the course. In essence, you’ll be developing all of the essential skills you need to start your journey towards a career in sport, health and fitness. Cornwall College has a selection of college sports teams, which regularly train and compete at a participatory and competitive level. If you qualify for county, regional or national level, we will support your athletic progress. A large selection of enrichment activities are also available, including football, netball, rugby, table tennis, badminton, basketball and circuit training. We have excellent links with local employers and sports clubs, providing amazing work experience and volunteering opportunities. Many of our students have gone on to employment further afield or abroad. As a Level 3 course, this diploma is all about you growing as a sports coach by effectively knowing how the body works, to successfully planning and delivering your very own sport coaching/fitness session.
