This programme introduces you to the different ways in which zoologists and psychologists research and interpret animal behaviour.
Through study of the underpinning science you will learn about techniques used in the management of animal behaviour in a range of contexts and species, e.g. companion animals, working dogs, enrichment for captive zoo animals. You will focus on behaviour in the main vertebrate groups.
There will be a particular emphasis on consideration of the welfare of animals and the promotion of humane treatment of animals.
As an FdSc Animal Behaviour & Psychology graduate you will have developed skills which prepare you for employment in animal training, welfare assessment, animal husbandry and other related fields of work.
Work-related learning is embedded within the Personal & Employability Skills Development and Animal Behaviour in Practice modules. You will have the opportunity to experience the world of work, even if you are studying full-time.
