The FdA Art & Design Practice is a radical and innovative interdisciplinary art degree programme. It reflects the direction the creative industries are taking by encouraging the blurring of boundaries between traditional art and design disciplines.

The freedom of the flexible curriculum allows you to nurture your creative potential and direct your study to achieve the skills and unique personal portfolio you need to enter the workplace.

You will have dedicated studio workspace and access to a wide range of purpose-built workshops and digital facilities. These include textiles, photography, print making, fine art, ceramics, graphic design, and multimedia with full technical support.

A key feature of the art degree programme is its engagement with a variety of employers through live briefs and input into the course by industry specialists.

Through ongoing professional development, the programme will build your confidence as you develop and evaluate an individual programme of study. You will learn to balance time and resources and identify opportunities which will be important skills for your chosen career.

Work-based learning is embedded throughout, through the Sustainable Practice and Creative Enterprise initiative which acts as a forum to bring together students and creative industry representatives to work on live projects.

We also offer an Access to HE Art & Design and the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design programmes. Both the perfect preparation for university-level study in the field of contemporary art & design.

Alice’s fashion designs have been seen on celebrities such as Rita Ora, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton and Jessie J, she also collaborates with some major manufacturers including Care Bears, My Little Pony and Hello Kitty.

“I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer and the course at Camborne covered lots of different disciplines, which was great as it gave me a wonderful overview of all the various paths open to me and I particularly remember enjoying life drawing. From there I was accepted by The University of Plymouth to study fashion design and on completion of my degree I then moved back to Cornwall and got a job at a high-end fashion boutique, which introduced me to the spectrum of fashion.

My goal was to have my designs on the catwalk at the Clothes Show, so I worked hard, researched a lot, got signed by a portfolio agency and was then contacted by the stylist who wanted me to be involved in the designs for the opening sequence to the show. From there I received work from the X-Factor, Got to Dance and worked with Vogue on a Range Rover launch. "

Are you are a creative person? Have you been thinking about returning to education, to study for a degree in art and design, but don’t feel that you are quite ready? If the answer to these questions is yes, then this is the course for you! The Access courses are designed to support mature learners (19+) so that they can progress confidently onto a degree at the end of the year. You will be supported with that application through UCAS. This course is just one year of study, so it is intense and fast paced, but at the same time it will introduce you to an exciting range of creative skills and ideas. As it is only one year, learners are expected to spend between 5-8 hours home study a week. In the first two terms you will have an introduction to: 2D skills, mixed media, colour theory, print, photography, graphic design, textiles, life drawing, 3D skills and ceramics. These will be taught by specialist staff mainly through a series of practical workshops. You will also develop your research, writing, and other study skills through the theory units; all of which are designed to prepare you for study in Higher Education. In the third term you will be able to write your own brief and display the work in our end of year exhibition. You will have your own generous studio space for the duration of the course, where you can create and display your work. In addition you will be able to use the dedicated workshops for Photography, Print, 3D and Ceramics. This level 3 qualification is all about engaging, supporting and developing your skills and ideas, to enable you to gain the confidence to progress onto a creative arts degree.
