Course information

This leisure course is designed to help adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) develop essential employability and IT skills. The course aims to enhance participants’ confidence, independence, and readiness for the workplace through practical and engaging activities.

1. Introduction to Employability Skills
• Understanding the importance of employability skills.
• Identifying personal strengths and areas for development.

2. Job Search and Application Techniques
• How to search for job opportunities.
• Writing effective CVs
• Completing applications for jobs
• Preparing for job interviews.

3. Basic IT Skills
• Introduction to computer basics
• Navigating operating systems and basic software applications.

4. Using Office Software
• Introduction to word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
• Practical exercises in creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

5. Online Communication and Safety
• Using email and other online communication tools.
o Understanding online safety and privacy.

6. Workplace Etiquette and Communication
• Professional behavior and communication in the workplace.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills

This course aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where adults with SEND can develop valuable skills for the workplace and everyday life. It encourages personal growth and prepares for future opportunities.

No formal assessment but learners will receive support and feedback from the course tutor.

Increased confidence to source paid employment or volunteering and opportunities to explore further leisure courses for adults with SEND.
