This Level 3 apprenticeship covers skill and training for the installation or maintenance of electro-technical equipment. Upon completion you will be qualified to work as an installation or maintenance electrical engineer.

As an apprentice you will be expected to have strong practical skills and advanced abilities. You’ll need to be able to follow technical drawings and understand health and safety regulations.

  What You Will Learn

You cover a range of topics including:

• Health and safety
• Environmental technology systems
• Overseeing the work environment
• Project planning
• Preparing and installing electrical systems
• Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords
• Inspecting, certification and testing

  Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4, including English and Maths. You will also need an employer willing to take you on. If you do not have an employer we may be able to help you fine one through our recruitment team.

  Assessment

Assessment will include practical assignments and multiple choice tests.

  Progression

Full-time employment as a qualified electrician (many apprentices remain with the employer the completed their training with)

Go on to university to study a relevant foundation degree or bachelor’s degree in building services, engineering and associated disciplines.

Following the completion of this course you can apply for a professional registration to the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) as an Engineering Technician.

This course can change your earning potential and your ability to find work anywhere in the world. The question is what do you want to do? This course will enable you to fit out very high specification interiors in cars, motorhomes, super Yachts, planes or design and fit kitchens, offices, shops or set up your own furniture making business. The course is delivered here at the Camborne campus within the dedicated furniture suite where we have a large maker’s workshop, a design room, a power tool room and a finishing room as well as access to the wood machine/ joinery workshop. Furniture Making Diploma

This qualification enables learners to develop the knowledge and skills required for employment, apprenticeships or further study to support career progression in selected areas including making, industry multi-skills; finishing or restoring furniture; making soft furnishings or upholstery; machining wood or fitting interiors such as kitchens and offices. Previous learners studying Level 2 Furniture with Cornwall College, Camborne, have gone on to compete at World Skills Regional and National competitions, with many past winners including Gold Medal at the 2019 National Final. Others have gone into Apprenticeships with world renowned companies such as Pendennis Superyachts.

The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work on a range of materials and tools. Which will be supported by theory lessons to underpin your knowledge. A Level 2 apprenticeship course, this is all about advancing your knowledge in the bricklaying industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from experienced and professional bricklayers, who are there to give you the very best start to your career. We do everything in our workshop: from brick to block work, line work, piers, corners, one brick thick walls, cavity walls, arches and much more. We work very closely with employers to make sure you will have the right skills and knowledge to support local needs and keep you working! Entry level positions start at £23,414 per year while most experienced workers make up to £52,000 per year. Our workshop features industry-standard equipment and kit, exactly like a working site. We work closely with your employer to support you in your travel to be a great tradesperson.
