If you are passionate about plants and fascinated by ­flowers then a career in horticulture is the right choice for you and an apprenticeship is a great way to earn money while learning new skills at the same time. There is a wide range of careers available in this sector including employment in garden retailing, plant nurseries, edibles production, landscaping, parks and gardens, and turf care. Our apprenticeships are designed to help you focus your skills and decide which career path is best for you.

An apprenticeship will allow you to earn money while you are studying. In order to start your apprenticeship in horticulture you can either join our Level 3 apprenticeship, depending on your GCSE results, or you can choose one of our Level 2 courses.

Our industry links with partners like the Eden Project, ensure that you will study in a hugely inspiring and totally engaging environment during your time on this apprenticeship.

  What You Will Learn

Study horticulture at the iconic Eden Project and work with Eden’s world-class horticultural team to gain practical and theoretical knowledge of plants from all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to specialise in one of the seven sectors of horticulture at Eden: the rainforest biome, outdoor biome, Mediterranean biome, outer estate, nursery, temporary display and science team.

  Entry Requirements

GCSEs in English and maths at grade 3. You will also need to be employed by Eden or a company with a similar ethos, and all your learning will take place at Eden

Students take part in high profile events, like the Tall Ships Regatta, Falmouth Oyster Festival and the Padstow Christmas Festival. Students also have the opportunity to travel on a residential study visit to destinations such as Barcelona, Paris, Disneyland and London. Other visits include Newquay Airport, the Eden Project, Heartlands, Flambards, St Ives, Pendennis Castle, St Michaels Mount, Lanhydrock, and Land’s End. Plus there is the opportunity to go on board a cruise ship visiting Falmouth and to also take part in a local beach clean. From weddings and music gigs to exhibitions and sporting events you will get great job satisfaction when you see how successful an event you have been working on has been. If you’re looking for that first step towards a career in the exciting world of events, then our Live Events & Promotions apprenticeship could be the right choice for you. Throughout the course can expect event management workshops, guest speakers and visits. You will also have the opportunity to work directly in a technical, artistic and administrative capacity in either small or large scale, indoor or outdoor events, depending on your apprenticeship provider. Build on the skills you gained at Level 2 and further develop your event management abilities, increasing your knowledge and understanding of practices relating to live events and promotions.
