This course enables study to take place whilst in the workplace as a member of staff or volunteer.

On completion it will provide you with a Level 2 qualification in working with children and young people from the age of 0 to 6.11 years in a supporting role.

  What You Will Learn

You will cover a range of interesting topics including:

Child development
Play
Health and safety
Safeguarding
Creativity and personal development.

  Entry Requirements

The ability to cope with the knowledge requirements of the course at Level 2 and the opportunity to generate evidence of competence in the workplace with good level of literacy and numeracy. Your work placement needs to be within settings for children and young people.

You will take part in a weekly work placement and attend college in order to complete the course. You will take part in practical and theory lessons, in well- equipped classrooms that replicate the childcare settings. Our classrooms are well furnished with sector specific furniture and resources that allow you to explore the world of children in the early years setting. You will learn why children behave the way they do and the theory that supports their development and learning. You will also develop skills to carry out child observations using children who come into college or are in the workplace. An important aspect of being an Early Years Practitioner is learning your roles and responsibilities when with children, so we look at legislation, keeping children safe and working in partnership with others. You will be taught by sector experienced tutors who are there to fully support you in your chosen career.

You will be taught by sector experienced tutors who are there to fully support you in your chosen career.
