On this course you will be able to develop your creative skills by working on a project of your choice with the help and support of the tutor. This could be anything from still life drawing and painting, sketching, perspective drawing, textiles, crochet, sewing machine techniques, card making, water colours and photography.

The tutor will give you guidance to achieve your goals and you can adapt them to make your own creations.

Your road to wellbeing courses are relaxed and informal, enabling you to improve your wellbeing and mental health, building your self-confidence, and a great way to make friends.

Our courses are for anyone aged 19 plus who suffers from or who is recovering from mental ill health.

Our courses run one day per week, over 10 to 13 weeks per term. If you miss the start of the course don’t worry, you can join the courses at any time.

Beginners Guide To Digital Photography (Evening)

This course is aimed at beginners who will learn the basic use of a digital camera. With simple techniques to improve portraits, landscapes, travel photography, special occasions, and competition entries. You will learn what the controls on your camera are for, and how settings can be used to give effects that can enhance your images. This will include an understanding of exposure and what settings combine to give the right results; what types of image file and colour settings are the best for your camera; basic control of natural, artificial and flash lighting and basic use of photo software; tips for improving the composition of landscapes, portraits, nature and close-up (macro) images. Students are encouraged each week to try out what they have learnt and the photographs are viewed by the group the following week. You will need your own digital camera for this course and if you already have one a tripod may also be useful. This is a FREE* course - apply for your place now. *This course will be free for students who will be 19+ as of 31.08.21 and have not attended the course before. FdA Photography

Level 5 • Full-time • Cornwall College Camborne, Falmouth Marine School


Our exciting and vibrant new FdA Photography programme, is built upon the years of existing good practice to be found in the Arts and Media Department at Cornwall College Camborne. Photography is a popular, challenging and competitive subject. As such our new programme has been designed to ensure our graduates are tenacious, flexible and excited by the new opportunities that are available in photography and are fully aware of the niches that can be carved within the creative industries. To ensure a dynamic student experience, as a FdA Photography student you will be located within the existing BA (Hons)/ FdA Art & Design Practice studio spaces, sharing a range of facilities including an HE Common Room. You will also enjoy your own subject specific teaching areas, including a photography studio and dark room facilities. Smaller teaching groups are a positive element of the programme, ensuring you receive the expert attention that you need to become a successful photographer. However, the programme cohorts will be large enough for you to collaborate with fellow students and undertake group projects. Opportunities will exist to support you if your interest lies in photo-journalism or contemporary fashion, or if you wish to develop specialisms in the use of either digital or conventional photographic technology. Photography specific visits and trips will take part throughout the programme as part of the curriculum. Location photography shoots in Cornwall, in both countryside and coastal regions, will also form part of the programme.
