This College Certificated course will give you the basic knowledge on how to apply corrective make-up for the perfect look.
Corrective makeup is a technique that makes use of light and dark shades and colours to highlight and contour facial features, creating the illusion of better balance and proportion.
This course could lead to progression on to the Beauty Therapy Diploma Level 2 or the Hair & Media Make-up Diploma Level 2.

I was very nervous and excited to start college. I was living in Looe and nobody that I knew from my school was going to do the course that I was going to do, so yeah, I had first day jitters, but it was great. I made friends really quickly and like everyone says it goes really fast, so enjoy it. I loved my hairdressing course and getting really hands on. Before I started college I spent the summer in a salon, just as an assistant, soaking everything up and watching lots. I also practiced things on my friends and family, even if it was just blow drying. I have very curly hair so I really enjoyed trying new things out on my own hair too. There are so many options with hairdressing, it’s really limitless.
I now have my own salon in South London called Bleach. I also do a lot of freelance work, which I have been doing for about 10 years now working in TV, music videos, touring with musicians and artists on their tours, lots of live TV and photo shoots and things like that. I have also been able to travel, all things I never even imagined I would be able to do, so your possibilities are endless.
If the freelance side of things is what you would like to get into be very well rounded. I think it’s played well for me that I can do everything from cutting, colouring and extensions down to perming and shampoo and sets. When I was at college I was like; “oh another perm!”, but all of those things really shape everything that you end up being able to do. They give you so many skills that you might think at the time you’re not going to need but you really will want them! Practice as much as possible and play around, your friends will get tired of having their hair done.
