Love being outside? Enjoy working with your hands? Or you just not sure what path to take in construction?

This is the course for you! This will be a great first step into construction.

This course is heavily practical based which gives you a great chance to learn a massive range of hand skills which will support you when you move in to the trade area of your choosing. There will be theory lessons to support your practical knowledge as well as working on your Employability skills.

The subjects you will have a chance to learn:

Bricklaying (brick and block)
Plastering (rendering and floating)
Wood trades (wood joints)
Tilling (walls and floor)
Plumbing
Painting
Through these subjects you will learn how to us correct and safe methods with tools and equipment.

Our workshops are set up to deliver all aspect of the course with great space to push yourself and your knowledge. Our teachers and technician have a great wealth knowledge to pass on to you and will push you to find your passion for the trades. Through this course you will have a chance to learn more about yourself and where your interest is.

  What You Will Learn

This one-year course will help you to understand the basic skills needed in different trade areas. This will help you make a choice at the end of the year to which trade you want to continue learning

  Entry Requirements

There no set entry requirements. We are looking for motivated and interested individuals

  Work Experience

3 weeks (90 hours) of any construction based areas 

  Assessment

You will be assessed through practical assignments

  Progression

Once you’ve finished the multi skill course, you’ll have a good understanding of what the trades entail. The next pathway would a L1 in your Chosen trade: Bricklaying, wood trades and tilling

The first thing you’ll notice about this course is that it’s about practical learning – you’ll be spending a lot of time in our workshop, learning by doing as you work on a range of materials and tools. This will support your in advancing you knowledge and your employability As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about advancing your knowledge to the bricklaying industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from experienced and professional bricklayers, who are there to give you the very best start to your career. We do everything in our workshop: from brick to block work, line work, piers, corners, one brick thick walls, cavity walls, arches, render and finish plastering and much more! As you more up course levels these units will get more complicated as you progress through the course. Electrical Installation Diploma

Do you like a challenge? Are you a practical, hand-on problem solver? If the answer is ‘yes’ to these questions then a fulfilling career in the electrical industry may be for you and the Level 1 in Electrical Installation is the perfect first step to take! You will spend time learning electrical theories in the classroom and then put these into practise in our extensive and dedicated electrical workshop. Cornwall College is proud of its recently created Mezzanine practical workspace, which houses well-stocked working bays featuring industry standard kit for you to put your newfound skills into practise. As a Level 1 student, you will gain a solid understanding of many aspects of the electrical industry, including wiring circuits, health and safety, installation methods, wiring systems, basic testing, renewables and much more.
