City & Guilds Dog Grooming Diploma Level 3

Having successfully completed the start of a great new career with the Level 2 you can progress it even further with this Level 3 diploma.

Working with dogs is extremely rewarding, but it can require long hours with dedication and enthusiasm.

Dog grooming is a constantly growing industry that keeps you on your toes and allows you to learn new techniques and styles with changing fashions of breeds.

Completing the level 3 will open up the door for you to run your own business, be it mobile or in a salon or allow you to be employed by others knowing you have reached an industry standard.

This Level 3 allows you to study at our purpose built dog grooming parlour in the grounds of the college.

The Course runs for 33 weeks part time, with work experience, home learning, weekly theory sessions, and 1 to 1 tuition at the Grooming Academy. You will be grooming dogs from start to finish including the preparation and styling. We have a variety of dogs; from cockapoo’s, poodles, springer spaniels, to giant schnauzers. You will be working to improve your scissor skills, handling skills, breed standards and customer requirements. Come & start your amazing next chapter with dog grooming.

Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment

Entry requirements

You need to hold the City and Guilds level 2 certificate for dog grooming assistants to start this qualification.

Work experience

You will need to complete 100 hrs work experience in a dog grooming salon

Assessment

The assessment for this qualification will require you to achieve:

A written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification

Practical assessments which covers health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements

Progression

Once you’ve finished the Level 3 course, you’ll be a qualified groomer. To progress even further in the field once you have some experience under your belt of running your own grooming business or working full time in this industry, you could work towards your higher level 4 dog grooming diploma and become a master groomer.

We also encourage you to have a go at grooming competitions.

The historic Georgian mansion, commercial farm, animal husbandry school, modern veterinary nursing building, world-class engineering and heavy plant machinery workshop, walled garden and arboretum are all set in over 200 hectares of historic parkland.
