BSc Sport and Exercise Science – Part Time
If you have a passion to lead others in the sport, health and fitness industry, then this is the course for you.
The first thing you will notice about this course is that you will have the opportunity to focus on your career aspiration via the work-based learning module and specialist module options on offer.
This final year Level 6 programme focuses on the practical application of theoretical constructs in an industry relevant manner, with the vision to enhance both employability and entrepreneurial acumen.
It aims to deliver a broader understanding of the scientific underpinnings of public health, sport performance, development and education. This innovative approach will better prepare you for the demands of a continually evolving sport and health related industry in a sustainable manner.
Assessment is through an honours research project, written assignments, presentations, practical placement and theoretical exams.
You will be assessed working on real-life projects from November - May, such as teaching physical education in local primary and secondary schools or developing sport, health and physical activity in the wider community. You may also carry-out fitness testing on athletes from local sport clubs. This will allow you to gain essential working hours in a career aspiration of your choice to support your next steps after the programme.

What you will learn
This two year part time degree will support your commercial awareness of the industry you wish to gain employment.
The honours dissertation will give you the opportunity to research and measure a topic that interests you in sport, health and exercise science.
You have two module options to pick from the following four topics (Exercise Physiology, Psychology, Nutrition and Sport Coaching).
The module options will help you to specialise in key industry topics helping to support your professional develop in sport, health & exercise science.
Entry requirements
240 credits with 120 at level 5 from a relevant Foundation Degree, HND, or equivalent in an appropriate subject. All qualifications and subject grades will be considered on an individual basis. HND qualifications may require additional bridging modules. You will require a DBS

Assessment methods on the course include; reports, presentation, observations and exams.
Progression
Once you have finished the course you could gain 100+ work placement hours in a career of your choice. This will help to support future interviews and networking with industry professionals. The program will also support future progression onto masters study in relative topics.
