On this course you will learn a variety of mixed media, methods and process’s to produce creative art work. By practicing and developing your skills through observation and experimental techniques. Projects cover in- depth; painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media.

Lessons are flexible and relaxed, with the emphasis of helping you to lose your fears and develop your own individual creative styles.

The tutor will give you guidance to achieve your goals and you can adapt them to make your own creations.

Your road to wellbeing courses are relaxed and informal, enabling you to improve your wellbeing and mental health, building your self-confidence, and a great way to make friends.

Our courses are for anyone aged 19 plus who is experiencing or recovering from mental ill health.

Our courses run one day per week, over 10 to 13 weeks per term. If you miss the start of the course don’t worry, you can join the courses at any time.

You will explore a variety of print techniques and approaches. Improving Your Digital Photography (Evening)

No Qualification • Part-time • Cornwall College Camborne


On this course you will learn advanced techniques to improve the quality, lighting and composition of your images. Advanced use of natural, artificial and studio flash lighting. Common uses of photo software. Special techniques; including Panoramas, HDR, and Focus Stacking. The course will take a deeper look at producing high quality landscapes, portraits and close-up photography. This will include the use of well-known software to give the best final image from each exposure, although the emphasis will always be on getting the best results from your camera. We will look at ways of controlling or taking advantage of challenging lighting conditions, and this will include a studio session to gain experience of artificial lighting techniques. Students are encouraged each week to try out what they have leant and the photographs are viewed by the group the following week. This course would be ideally suited to students who have already completed our Beginners Guide to Digital Photography course or are already at this level (please see our Beginners course description). If you are not sure please contact us and we can arrange for you to speak to the tutor to determine the best course for you. This course is for DSLR camera users only. You will need your own DSLR camera and a tripod for this course. This is a FREE* course - apply for your place now. *This course will be free for students who will be 19+ as of 31.08.21 and have not attended the course before. If you have already attended this course and wish to repeat it a fee will apply. This course runs on a Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm for 8 weeks. Art and Design Diploma

Do you love Art or Design? Are you an inventive, creative person? Would you like to broaden your skills and learn how to develop your ideas, so that you could one day earn a living from your creativity? This course is perfect for students who like to study in a practical, hands-on way. You will explore a wide range of materials, processes and technical skills, as well as developing good study skills, communication skills, employability skills and self-confidence. The qualification is structured to provide time for gallery visits, collaborative projects and work experience, alongside regular sketchbook work, contextual studies, specialist workshops and portfolio building. The timetable also allows you to study for your Maths and English GCSE’s should you need to. The course begins with fun projects and a variety of skills workshops that are taught to the whole group. Over time you will be able to steer projects to be themed to your own interests or chosen art or design specialism. You will soon become a more independent learner who is able to come up with original ideas, write your own project proposals, develop sketchbook pages and create finished pieces that you are proud of. If you choose to study at our St Austell campus you will work as part of The Creative and Digital Academy, collaborating on a wide range of projects, performances and exhibitions with fellow creativity. Our vibrant and diverse spaces mean you’ll be engaging with musicians, dancers, gamers, filmmakers and actors, all working together to grow the creative landscape in Cornwall. If you choose to study at our Camborne campus you will be based in our bright and spacious art studio. Developing your creativity in a friendly and inspiring place, where students are encouraged to experiment freely, to express their individuality, to try out new ways of working and to broaden their ideas through slide-shows, discussions and research.
