This course is designed for people who wish to teach in further education, community education, work-based learning, offender learning and similar public sector and voluntary settings. The course supports you in becoming an effective and well-informed teacher of your chosen subject. You will follow a core programme where you will be involved in class based learning activities i.e. lectures, individual and group based activities, discussions, presentations, seminars, practical workshops, tutorials and directed study, using learning centres and virtual learning environments. Professionalism and ethical codes of personal and professional practice underpin all elements of the course. The enhancement module of Principles of Teaching & Innovation, Enterprise & Employability is also embedded in this course to ensure that these concepts inform the skills and understandings developed by the trainee teacher. This enables you to apply them to your planning for learning and teaching A teaching placement is an essential requirement of this course and is integral to the assessment of all four modules. During the course this placement will inform taught sessions and enable you to contextualise and apply key principles of learning.
