Leading The Internal Quality Assurance Of Assessment Processes And Practice City & Guilds Certificate

Level 4 • Part-time • Teaching & Education department


This course is suitable for you if you are a practitioner who Leads the Internal Quality Assurance Process, within an Assessment Centre/Organisation; and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of Assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as Awarding Organisations. A one day induction to the course will cover the background knowledge and understanding aspects of the Award and the role as the Lead Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) you will be required to carry out. Within the Assessment Centre, you will Lead the QA process and allocate work, within your own area of responsibility. As an IQA you will also be required to work closely with at least two assessors, each with a minimum of two candidates of their own, through components of a qualification. In your role as Lead IQA, you will also work with and co-ordinate with others from External Agencies i.e. Awarding Organisations, as well as meeting with your Course Tutor/Assessor regularly and build a portfolio of evidence.

This course will be ideally suited to students who have recently completed the Term One course but would be of equal value to people who have previously completed some formal study or have a grasp of the French language who wish to refresh and further develop and build on their language skills. The course will be more student led in order to control the pace and allow time to further develop and build confidence. Students will be involved in a number of activities such as introducing yourself, describing your family, your job, shopping, ordering meals, booking accommodation, asking directions, dislikes and likes etc. This is hoped to provide a platform for additional practice and avoid communication deadlocks when visiting the country either as a tourist or those who are planning to re-locate to France.
