Welding Basic To Advanced (British Standard)

Professional Qualification • Part-time • Engineering department


This is a welding course for all; if you are a complete beginner with limited welding knowledge or an advanced welder requiring the British Standard 4872 coding. The Advanced Welding is British Standard 4872 training and testing part 1 (steel) and part 2 (aluminium), the assessments are carried out by a Welding Institute Qualified, CSWIP trained Weld Tester. On this practical hands-on course, you will have the opportunity to learn various processes and procedures, whilst working towards a recognised industry standard in welding, if desired. The welding processes available are: T.I.G-Tungsten Inert Gas. M.M.A-Manual Metal ARC known as arc or stick. MIG/MAGS-Metal Arc Gas Shielded known as mig. Materials: Stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel any thickness. Positions: Horizontal, vertical H/V, flat, vertical and overhead. Training and testing on all welding processes can be delivered in your company using your own equipment, as a bespoke course. The delivery and assessments are carried out by a Welding Institute Qualified, CSWIP trained Weld Tester. PPE will be required for the course: Appropriate PPE must be worn in the workshop (cotton boiler suit and steel toe capped boots must be brought by the candidate, although we can provide gloves and masks for the duration of the course). NB. Please be aware that due to the nature of the activity, contact lenses should not be worn in the welding workshop, although glasses may be worn with safety specs or goggles over the top.

Diploma in Engineering Technologies

Engineering at level 3 comes with a considerable academic content preparing you for a potential future at a University; as well as the expected maths and science there will be units covering project management, design, engineering drawing, business and quality systems; arming you with an academic background to take on any challenge. Engineering Technician (Machinist) Apprenticeship Standard

Level 3 • Work-based • Engineering department


This Level 3 advanced apprenticeship is ideal if you have completed the Engineering Apprenticeship Level 2 and would like to build on your existing knowledge, develop higher skills and further your career.
