Introduction to Tabletop Gaming

This is an introductory course/gaming club for adult learners to take part in and/or learn the basics of tabletop gaming as well as taking part in workshops to build and paint miniatures, maps, and other resources required for tabletop gaming. A weekly campaign will also be run using the Dungeons and Dragons system and hosted in the creative academy's dedicated tabletop gaming room. Online Mindful breathing and contemplation

Stressful work or home environment? Overwhelmed that there’s so much to do and such little time? Join me online three times a week and give yourself these 30 minutes to be guided through some gentle breathwork. This can be done at your desk or even on your sofa. Darkroom Photography

This exciting six week course will give you the opportunity to explore and experiment with many darkroom techniques such as making photograms, shooting and processing a 35mm film into negatives, taking these negatives into the darkroom and using them to produce both contact sheets and final prints. You will refine your printing capabilities and develop your understanding of contrast through your darkroom practice. You will require a 35mm SLR Camera to start the course but your film will be provided. Learners that have a basic understanding of photography and will have their own 35mm SLR cameras can learn the process of taking a film from camera to the final processed image. This course will run on Tuesdays from 17:30 - 19:30

FdSc Computing, Networking and Software Development*

This foundation degree has been specifically designed and written to ensure that you join the industry fit for purpose, professional and with the ability to respond to its rapidly changing demands. This is achieved by combining formal lectures, hands-on practical experience, the embedding of work-based learning and the incorporation of preparation for Cisco vendor qualifications. Resources are exceptional with access to specialist computer suites, Cisco Regional Network Academy networking facilities, Microsoft Professional Training suites, test centres and an open access suite. The programme offers you a common first year with the opportunity to specialise in software development or computer networking in the second year. The content for Cisco networking qualifications are embedded within your foundation degree which will help you to gain employment on completion of your programme. We have liaised closely with local industry to identify local needs and the Sector Skills Council, e-skills, to identify national trends in demand. The programme is broad-based, giving a good grounding in current practice and developments. You have the opportunity to pursue areas of special interest, through optional modules, to focus on computer networking or software development, together with your integrated project undertaken in Year 2. During the foundation degree, you will also study towards the Cisco Certified Network Associate and Cisco Certified Security content. This complementary study will prepare you to undertake the industry recognised awards of CCNA and CCNS which will provide you with a unique qualification, putting you in a strong position for future employment or career progression.

BSc (Hons) Computing Technologies

Level 6 • Full-time • Cornwall College Camborne


The programme is designed as a one year top-up to the FdSc Computing, Networking & Software Development programme offered at Cornwall College or an equivalent FdSc. It offers development and in depth study in the field of evolving computing technologies and also gives you the opportunity to further your specialisation in either the field of networking or software development. The preparation of study for vendor certifications alongside the academic qualification ensures you will meet the needs of industry. You will study an individual 40-credit project module, together with a common core of 60 credits. These include E-Business for the Entrepreneur, Digital Forensics and Agile Methods. There are a further 20 credits of electives for you to choose, from either the Networking route, studying Advanced Networking, or the Software Development route, studying Advanced Object Oriented Programming. Programme content is informed by and supported by national and local industry. Study will be through formal lectures, tutor led seminars, blended learning and self-directed research and study. There will be practical workshops in computer suites and in the Cisco Networking Lab.
