This programme is for people over the age of 18 who are interested in pursuing a career working within the early years sector as, for example, a primary teacher or as an early years practitioner or manager. It is particularly suitable for people who would like to study full-time over one day per week. Diploma In Childcare And Education

Level 3 • Full-time • Children, Schools & Families department

If you have confidence, enthusiasm, communication skills and patience, then educating children and watching them develop is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding careers you can have. As an early years or primary school teacher you will provide the building blocks on which a child’s academic ability will flourish. We offer two options for you to start your career in childcare and education depending on your GCSE results. Our Level 3 course offers you the choice of university study or employment on successful completion of your course. Our Level 2 certificate is ideal should your GCSE results not be what you expected, with the option to progress to Level 3. From early years teaching in nurseries to primary school education, we can help you focus your career path so you can decide what the best employment route is for you. Working with pre-school children (early years) is a delight, as learning techniques tend to focus around play, but it is also an extremely important stage of their lives, as what they learn now can shape their personality, attitudes and behaviour later in life. Primary school teaching becomes much more formal and you will teach a broad range of subjects, write lesson plans and tests, all designed to help the children grow academically. At both our Camborne and St Austell Campuses we have a sector trained team who have vast experience working with Children, Schools and Families. Both sites are also very well resourced with opportunities for practical and theoretical delivery in and outside of the classroom. You will love the ongoing support, both in college and in your workplace setting, developing the transferable skills and knowledge that will increase your progression into careers such as primary teaching, nursery management, child psychology, and speech and language therapy.
