Basic Plumbing Studies

This is a one-year Level 1 introductory course to plumbing, teaching you the essential health & safety practices you will need to work in a trade profession. Often called upon in an emergency, if you can fix a leaking pipe, mend a broken toilet, or repair a central heating system, you will be hailed a hero. An experienced plumber should have the ability to work in a variety of different environments and during your time with us we will teach you the practical, hands-on skills and industry legislation to enable you to do this, either as an employee or running your own business. We offer both full-time study and apprenticeship options for you to train to be a professional plumber. Gas Engineering Apprenticeship

Level 3 • Work-based • Cornwall College Camborne


If you are a practical person, who enjoys a challenge, problem solving and making a real difference in people’s lives, then a career as a gas engineer could well be the path for you. You will spend time learning gas theory here with us at Cornwall College covering all aspects from natural gas combustion to gas appliance installation. We build a good understanding of the science and meaning behind gas appliances and how they work and test our understanding by getting hands on in the work shop and of course, you’ll be working with qualified engineers, meeting the required criteria, in the workplace. To undertake this course no prior knowledge of plumbing or gas is required however it would be an advantage if you have some experience. All subjects will be covered whilst attending the course, however some homework and additional study will be required in your own time. We have built you a strong online moodle page full of information, power points, handouts, work sheets and mock papers to help you revise at your own pace.. Moodle is a great place to pick up required resources on the days that you are not attending college. With determination and a keen spirit, the hard work will pay off in only 2 years when you will achieve a City & Guilds level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering.
