You wish to upgrade your current hairdressing skills, increasing your knowledge and experience.
A Level 2 hairdressing qualification and successful completion of a trade test.
You don't need to be employed to take this course as it is classroom- as well as salon-based, but you must attend a work placement in a salon for at least one day per week.
You will be able to develop your creativity and independence as a stylist. You will study a wide range of hairdressing theory and then practice your skills in taught sessions and client-based practical sessions.
You will develop advanced cutting skills, assymetric and disconnected looks, creative drying and styling techniques, perming and creative styling, learn a range of fashion colouring techniques as well as colour correction methods at a Level 4.
You will also have the opportunity to be trained on cutting techniques and basic gents haircuts/ looks as well as gain knowledge of male pattern baldness and facial hair shapes in order to achieve an award in cutting men's hair.
Students regularly compete in hairdressing events as well as Cornwall College's own annual hairdressing competition where you will have the opportunity to showcase your designs and build a portfolio of work.
To develop your skills in purpose-built salons which are open to the public.

You may use your newly-acquired skills to obtain employment in a salon and go on to further study.
Cornwall College offers the complete pathway in hairdressing and you could take your qualifications all over the world. Past students have gone on to managing their own salon by taking a Level 4 in Salon Management, travel on cruise liners and teach.
