Working and learning as an apprentice in the business world offers a variety of opportunities for career development. You could start as an office junior in a large organisation, trying out various departments to find your ideal career, or you could become a jack of all trades in a small business, working across many disciplines.
We recommend that you start with our Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 2, as this will give you an excellent grounding in all aspects and help you decide on your future specialism. The Level 3 programme is more suited to those with some prior experience and looking to gain management and leadership skills.
This course is for anyone who is working in a customer facing role and would like to develop their customer service skills. Some of the job roles that you could be doing whilst completing this qualification are:
- Bank/building society customer adviser
- Contact centre operator
- Customer service adviser (Post Office)
- Customer service assistant/manager
- Hotel receptionist
- Local government customer services officer
- Medical receptionist
This qualification includes a variety of topics including:
- principles of customer service
- impressions and image
- handling problems
- development and improvement.
The course can be tailored to suit the responsibilities of the individual in their job role. The course is assessed in the workplace by an industry expert from Cornwall College.

two GCSEs at grade C or 4, including English and mathematics and be working in a customer service role, dealing with customers either face-to-face, in writing or on the telephone.
This new apprenticeship gives you the chance to choose and tailor your training to the job role of your dreams, leading to potential careers in business, marketing, sales, customer service or HR. With a focus on developing essential customer service skills at its core you will spend time at college (usually one day per week) learning skills and theory to help you in the workplace such as:

- Self-development and self-awareness
- Understanding your organisation
- Eective communication skills and teamwork
- Customer experience
In addition to this core apprenticeship, we also offer additional qualifications to allow you to develop a particular specialism in the business world that will help your organisation. These can include short courses* in:
- Learning and development
- Web design
- Social media
- Digital marketing
- Health and safety

To be assessed in the workplace by an industry qualified assessor, through observations and one-to-one tuition.
This apprenticeship usually takes 18 months to complete.

Business Administration Apprenticeship at Level 3, there may also be a new Customer Service Apprenticeship available by the time you complete this course (these new programmes are still being developed in partnership with industry and awarding bodies).
