Assessing Competence in the Work Environment City And Guilds Award

Ideal if:
you assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and recognition of prior learning (RPL).
You’ll need:
This will depend on the specific occupational area and the Award Sector Skills Council/Awarding Organisation Assessment Strategy; however, it is anticipated that occupational competence and experience of working within the sector may be required. You will also need to be working with/attached to an Approved Assessment Centre that is offering the QCF/NVQ Award you are planning to assess and have two real learners to assess in a real work environment.
You’ll learn:
the background knowledge and understanding aspects of the Award and the assessor role you will be required to carry out.
Expect:
to continue to work with the Course Tutor through group/one-to-one support at subsequent sessions. Within the Assessment Centre, you will work closely with at least two learners, through components of their qualification. You will meet with your Course Tutor/Assessor regularly and build a portfolio of evidence. You will also be required to work/liaise with other assessors and internal quality assurance staff at your Assessment Centre.

You will receive a Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment from City & Guilds to confirm that you
have achieved the Knowledge & Understanding Unit and the Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Unit.
