The qualification is aimed at anyone of 16 years or over, who use brush-cutters or trimmers as part of their work either in horticulture, arboriculture or forestry.
Brushcutters (fixed blade) and strimmers (nylon cord) are extremely useful tools for grounds maintenance. Due to the nature of the high speed rotating heads they can be dangerous both to the operator and people nearby. Completion of this three day course will give you the ability to carry out the correct and safe operation of these machines.
Gain a City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in the safe use of brushcutters/trimmers. The assessment takes the form of a practical test with one to one verbal questioning.
Completing this course will enable the learner to safely use a brushcutter/trimmer. Also covers pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments and operating the machine to cut or trim to the capacity of the machine.
Learners will need to bring a packed lunch and provide their own PPE – consisting of; steel toe-capped boots, helmet/visor/ear defenders, face/eye protection. Please also wear snag-proof clothing. If you would like to bring your own brushcutter, please do, however machines must be of an appropriate standard for training. For more information about this, please contact us.
