Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees Using Free-fall Techniques

Bicton College Bicton LEVEL: 3 Horticulture, Floristry & Arboriculture

This course runs over 3 days – 2 days training followed by assessment on Day 3. You will need to be fully competent in the use of a chainsaw and have a full set of personal protective clothing complying with current Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Applicants must be aged sixteen or older and hold the following NPTC Certificates of Competence:

Chainsaw Maintenance – CS30

Small Tree Felling – CS31

Climb Tree and Perform Aerial Rescue – CS38

Proof of pre-qualifications must be emailed/posted to the college before the course start date as evidence.

Other awarding body qualifications must be submitted to check if they are compatible with this NPTC course.

You will study the following –

  • The use of a chainsaw within the tree canopy
  • Communications
  • Organisation of work
  • Anchor points
  • Transfer of tools and equipment
  • Safe use of chainsaw
  • Techniques for the removal of branches
  • Storage of equipment and regulations
