Ideal if:

You would like to improve your life skills and gain a qualification and experience in arboriculture (Tree Surgery).

You’ll need:

GCSE English and maths at grade E or 2, or equivalent qualifications at Entry Level 3. Plus an interest in woodland habitat and arboriculture.

You’ll learn:

From a wide range of units covering subjects such as health & safety, woodland maintenance using handheld tools and machinery, planting and maintaining trees and shrubs, how to maintain structures in the countryside.

You'll also work towards a functional skills qualification in English and mathematics.

PROFILE

Phillip Hruza Programme Manager - Arboriculture

Phillip has worked in the industry for 10 years, progressing from a full-time climber to running his own business. He started working with Bicton College as an instructor and now manages the arboriculture programme. His specialism is practical aerial arboriculture; helping students to learn the skills and techniques to work safely and efficiently making sure they are fully prepared for the demands of the industry.
