This course is designed in partnership with industry to prepare you for a management career role in a farm or agricultural unit. The course is an excellent alternative to A-levels, allowing you to gain specialist skills and knowledge in the sector, while preparing you for university study if that is the route you choose to take.

You wish to develop your understanding of technical and scientific aspects of food, farming and the countryside and are keen to progress to university and a science related career, for example in animal nutrition, breeding and genetics, animal health and welfare, environmental science or artisan food processing or brewing.
Five GCSEs at grade C or 5, including English, maths and science.
About the science and physiology of animals and plants. You’ll also develop analytical and practical skills and learn how to apply them in agriculture and land-based context.
To gain a wide variety of experience and be in college for three to four days per week. Assessment includes both coursework and exams.

Rob Dunn Curriculum Lead - Food, Farming & Land-use
Rob has worked at a number of land-based colleges around the UK and is now the curriculum lead for Food, Farming and Land-use. Rob presents a weekly farming show for a Cornish radio station and is a judge for the British Farming Awards.
