What will the apprentice be doing?
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, highly effective Apprentice Caretaker to join our successful Multi- Academy Trust with an outstanding ethos where staff are supported to become the best.
This scheme includes NVQ training in Property Maintenance Operative with a recognised training provider.
We have positions at schools in the St Austell and Newquay areas, as well as the opportunity to work alongside our Premises & Maintenance Manager who travels to various schools in the Trust.
Duties:
Working alongside the Caretaker/Site Manager/Premises & Maintenance Manager:
· Carry out minor repairs and maintenance to school buildings
· Ensure the safety of school grounds and buildings
· Carry out H & S checks
· Carry out painting and decorating and general upkeep

The salary is £9.50 per hour and is initially for 12 – 18 months (the duration of the apprenticeship training course) and may lead to a permanent appointment for the right candidate.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS record check.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will be working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance Operative
- You will receive on and off the job training and support from an Assessor and an Apprenticeship Advisor
- You will be required to attend Cornwall College Camborne on a weekly basis
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Equipped with skills and practical experience for career in school premises and grounds maintenance, other construction industry.
