The 2020 Tesco Food Collection will take place 19 – 21 November. You will be able to sign up for a three hour shift on any of these days. You will directing the attention of customers to the FareShare shopping list as they enter the shop. The shopping list helps customers know what types of food to buy and donate to FareShare and it’s based on what our network of charities have asked for. The shopping list is in priority order showing the food our network requires most. It’s possible to sign up as an individual or create a team to bring friends and family along. More information can be found in the brief.

We understand that this is a very difficult time and only ask you to volunteer if you are fit, willing and able. The health and safety of FareShare’s volunteers is our number one priority, so please do not volunteer if you have been, or are, shielding, or are required to self-isolate.

Staying safe whilst volunteering in store:

  • You will be asked to bring your own face covering to wear whilst in store
  • You will not be approaching customers directly but holding a ‘lollipop’ sign (which will be sanitised between shifts)
  • You will be able to sanitise your hands as often as you want with the sanitiser provided.

A volunteer from last year’s collection commented “I worked with a great fellow volunteer and we received some very generous donations from customers. Fabulous day!”

We hope you can spare the time to help us out this year, so we can collect even more food for vulnerable people this Christmas. If you have any questions please do contact me and the food collection team at: tescofoodcollection@fareshare.org.uk or on 0800 711 7073.
