Business Development Manager Classic Sailing Ltd - £16,000 per annum

Classic Sailing is looking to employ a graduate to increase their bookings and profitability.
Classic Sailing sells adventure sailing holidays, short themed breaks, sailing and shore based course with recognised RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Sailing School certification. The companys core product is, and has been from inception, their wooden pilot cutter Eve of St Mawes. Based in Cornwall, Eve offers about 40 voyages a year exploring Cornwall, Brittany and the Isles of Scilly. Classic Sailing also selects a small fleet of tall ships and traditional sailing vessels around the world to work with each year. The ethos is to offer hands on traditional sailing, unspoilt destinations, good food, safe operations, environmentally friendly holidays and excellent customer care.
Objectives
Research the current market segments, allied companies, competitors, products and services and propose, devise and implement a new marketing strategy
Develop new Cornish holiday products and promotions with other Cornish businesses
Develop the European reputation for sustainable sailing holidays with a difference and raise the profile of Cornish Sailing Holidays abroad and within new markets in the UK
Improve PR and increasing local recognition for green credentials and unusual Cornish holidays
Improve number of repeat bookings and develop brand loyalty
Oversee the website and web/e-marketing initiatives (including Social Media, SEO) in line with proposed marketing strategy
Nature of Work
The successful graduate will be working with a husband and wife team (Directors) and seasonal staff in this busy, hands on, growing organisation. They will be required to propose and implement marketing initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of the companys services and increasing profitability. The successful graduate will also be managing work and budgets with external companies to achieve the goals agreed in the marketing plan.
Personal Skills
Essential Requirements
Degree level qualification in Business or Marketing or Leisure related
Flexibility and ability to work in a fast paced team environment with changing priorities
Creative approach with problem-solving ability
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a personable and service orientated manner
A passion for sailing and the sea
High level of IT Skills including web marketing
Full driving license
Desirable Requirements
Demonstrable experience of successful project management
Experience of Web and Design software
Awareness of social media within a business context
Experience and knowledge of traditional boats and tall ships. Willingness to spend time at sea.
Interest in the environment and sustainability
Duration
Initially 6 months from April 2010 (with an option to extend a further 6 months).
