Duchy College Rosewarne are proud associates of the Cornwall Blind Association's Gardening Club, regular visits are organised for the group of 20 members onsite at the Rosewarne campus.

This month they visited the campus and took part in a Christmas wreath-making session in the floristry department alongside Level 2 floristry students. The wreaths were made from a variety of foliage collected mainly on the Rosewarne site and offered the members of the gardening club an opportunity to gain creative floristry expertise and also enabled the level 2 students to improve their communication skills.

To round off the festive activities after the lesson, everyone sat down for Christmas lunch in the College canteen. Andrew Gunderson, Horticulture Lecturer, who organised the day, alongside floristry tutor Monica Beaumont, said: "A great day was had by all, the students benefitted from the experience hugely, and all the garden club members took a lovely memento of the day home with them."

Dave Linnell OBE, Principal of Cornwall College of which Duchy College is part, said: "Cornwall College is proud of its links with the wider community. Visits such as this contribute significantly towards the students learning experience whilst at college and also prepare them for the world beyond."
